Some say it does not matter how visualization works - all that matters is that it does. Others argue that knowing the process behind visualizing your goals leads to a higher rate of success.
But even if you don't understand the chemical processes in your brain, you can still reap the rewards of visualization and fulfill your potential.

What is visualization?
Visualization is like a mental rehearsal of what you wnt to happen.
If you look back at the careers of successful people, you will find that almost every one of them first visualized who they wanted to be . . . long before they actually achieved success.
CAUTION: Try not to visualize what you do NOT want, or you could be setting yourself up for failure.
The Secret, also known as the Law of Attraction, describes how powerful visualization can be. Imagining your goals and dreams can lead to actually experiencing them because your body and even the universe will respond to your mind.
When you visualize, you rehearse how a problem can be solved, how a new idea could be implemented. You mentally practice achieving and living your goal, which leads to the real thing.
THREE WAYS IT WORKS FOR YOU
(1.) Neuromuscular templates are created. These templates are patterns of mind-body reflexes that prepare you for what you are going to do. When you visualize, your muscles experience electrical impulses that correspond to the physical event you are imagining. Weight loss and even becoming happier can be achieved through visualizing who and where you want to be.
(2.) You leave your comfort zone. Visualizing your goal takes you into a whole new realm. You can practice examining your success from a new perspective with all sorts of different scenarios. This sets you up for the real thing and when it actually happens, you will be ready. You can imagine the big picture; the more you picture it in your mind, the more likely it is to become reality.
(3.) Your intuition is rallied for support and new ideas. If you are facing an obstacle you don't understand or haven't ever experienced, your intuition can work its magic. You mind will reach back into your past for ideas and resources. Your intuition will bring forth inspirations that you had not previously considered. It will let you know if you are on the right track and will supply you with motivation and insight.
HOW VISUALIZATION WORKED FOR ME
Just for fun, I used visualization on a small scale and was astonished when it worked perfectly.
ALMOST LIKE MAGIC
There was a yearly neighborhood association meeting last week. Every year for the past 22 years I have attended and watched while a door prize was awarded to the person whose card was pulled out of a bowl. It had never been my name.
This time, as soon as we walked into the room where the meeting was held, I visualized my card being pulled out of the bowl and pictured in my mind the person looking at the card and reading my name out loud.
It worked!
Okay, it was just a small prize - a $50 gift card at a local restaurant. But, what the heck, no harm in trying out this visualization thing.
I watched while the card was pulled out and it happened. She called my name.
