Whether you know it or not, your customers are being called by fraudulent telemarketers.  

They exist in every industry.  In the office equipment industry they are known as toner pirates

If you are unfamiliar with toner pirates, they are unscrupulous telemarketers who prey on businesses everywhere and misrepresent themselves as being from the "local warehouse" or "local supplier."  They may even say they are calling from Xerox or Canon or Sharp or any other major copier manufacturer.

These fraudulent telemarketers will usually say they are calling about an upcoming price increase and offer to sell toner at a "special" price.  In reality, the special price is usually two to four times the retail price.  The products sold by these toner pirates are often counterfeit supplies.  Find out more about counterfeit imaging supplies at  http://www.isc-inc.org/

WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT THIS?

     If you are selling to end-users, they need to be made aware of this problem. 

     You can send warning stickers
(provided by many manufacturers)
and consumers can place the stickers on office equipment.  

     In addition, you can write a personal letter to each of your customers making them aware of fraudulent telemarketers.
